  • Pianist and composer Chris Lee brings his band of longstanding collaborators (vocalist Mark Jennett, bass-player Joe Pettitt, and drummer Rod Youngs) to Crazy Coqs to launch his latest recording. The album, A Troubled Man, is a collection of ten original songs presenting a musical portrait of Kurt Wallander, the detective protagonist of Swedish author Henning Mankell’s crime novels. Ranging in style from gentle ballads to dramatic story songs, the music takes its inspiration from some of the classic film noir scores of the 60s, including Lalo Schifrin’s Bullitt and Johnny Mandel’s Point Blank, as well as from the Nordic jazz of Jan Garbarek.

The evening will also feature several iconic 60s songs about other “troubled men” in original arrangements by Chris Lee.
