Mark Kavuma presents Harlem Shuffle

Trumpeter Mark Kavuma steps into the spotlight at Crazy Coqs as a special guest host of Gary Crosby’s Harlem Shuffle monthly residency.

Over the last decade, Mark Kavuma has become a key player in the London jazz scene. He has released six albums and is renowned for his unique trumpet sound.

A gifted educator, Mark is an associate music leader for the Tomorrow’s Warriors programme and is also involved in their professional performance ensembles, including the acclaimed Nu Civilisation Orchestra and Jazz Jamaica.

Mark will be joined by Alex Ho (piano), Nathan Dawkins (bass), and Daniel Smithson (drums) as they take inspiration from the 20s swing sound of Ellington and embark on a journey through to the hard bop scene of the 50s when Harlem was the cradle of jazz creativity for the world.
This is a celebration of the hedonism of the Harlem club scene – hard beats, heavy grooves and a crowd that wanted to move!
