One of the most in-demand players of her generation, Rachael Cohen is highly regarded as one of the leading players on the London Jazz scene. Head hunted by American Bassist Michael Janisch, she released her debut album ‘Halftime’ on his now internationally acclaimed record label Whirlwind Recordings in 2013. She has worked extensively in the last ten years with the likes of trumpeter Mark Kavuma, US saxophonist Nicole Glover, and more recently touring with the New York supergroup ARTEMIS, led by piano legend Renee Rosnes. She holds a long-standing residency at the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s and has been listed two years in a row as a rising star by the critics in the American magazine ‘Downbeat’. Here, she presents a quartet of musicians who are outstanding in their field, with a concert that promises to show the very best of the Jazz and Brazilian sounds.

Heidi Vogel is one of the most revered vocalists in the UK. From Camden, London, Heidi made her debut with Cirque de Soleil. From there, she became a frequent face on the break beat scenes in London and LA, soon becoming involved with the Cinematic Orchestra for whom she has been the lead singer for the last 15 years. Heidi’s extraordinary voice and musical understanding have allowed her to feature in many different genres with ease and authenticity, from classic Jazz settings to most recently her performances with bass superstar Thundercat and her appearance on the posthumous record from pianist Austin Peralta. Her knowledge of the Portugese language and Brazilian repertoire make her a wonderful addition to this quartet and an unmissable performer.

Josue Ferreira and Anselmo Netto have a rich history of performing together since their arrival in London some 20 years ago.

From São Paulo, Josue is a guitar virtuoso and vocalist playing with all the history and influence of the great masters from Joao Gilberto to Toninho Horta. His playing can be heard on Heidi Vogel’s acclaimed record ‘Turn up the quiet’ as well as releasing his own records of original compositions.

From Bahia, Anselmo Netto is not only a percussionist, but a Mandolin player and composer. He is known for his work with the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Bernardo Lobo and Ibibio Sound Machine.
